A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced within Project Management to join this established University in the heart of London. You will need to have worked within Higher Education to be considered for this role.

Main purpose of the job
Be responsible for the initiation, development and monitoring of several early stage projects. The assignment may vary over time, and you may be required to deliver multiple projects in parallel. Have significant understanding of education sector lifecycles and associated processes. Part of the role is to ensure potential problems are identified and resolved, and mitigating actions put in place, escalating the most serious issues to the appropriate level.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Develop initiatives into projects and ensure that these are formally approved, governed and tracked to delivery or a satisfactory handover point.
  • Prepare Project outline documents and project plans for each project to provide clarity of purpose
  • Manage projects to deliver to agreed quality, budget and timeframes.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations and Deputy Director of Operations to identify to identify future initiatives and risks associated with the delivery of particular projects.
  • Work with operational leads to establish project scope, objectives, milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure that project plans are kept up to date, accurately reflecting progress against the plans.
  • Monitor and produce reports on overall progress, suggest changes and updates and keep stakeholders informed of developments.

Education to degree level, or equivalent relevant experience 

  • Qualification in recognised project management and/or change management methodology
  • Significant understanding of education sector lifecycles and associated processes.
  • Experience in leading significant change to administrative processes in an academic environment.
  • Proven ability in the management of initiatives and projects in HE from inception to successful implementation, including the development of plans, the management of budgets, resources and timelines, and the ability to involve key stakeholders.
  • Organisation design experience

Desirable Skills & Experience 
  • Building relationships with stakeholders at all levels, demonstrating the sensitivities required to balance and resolve the tensions in working with a wide range of contacts (both internally and externally at senior level).
  • Proven ability to shape developments through active participation and leadership
  • Excellent IT skills with particular proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and project management software.
  • Pragmatic and can tailor approach to changing circumstances
  • Enjoys multi-tasking over a broad range of activities
  • Taking responsibility and making tough calls when necessary
