Job Description:

**Procurement /Supply Chain Lead– Defence Organisation – 6 months contract - £33 per hour LTD/ Umbrella – Portsmouth**

We are currently recruiting for multiple Supply Chain professional to work for a major Defence Contractor based in Portsmouth on a 6 contract. Candidates with experience of supply chain within the defence sector will have a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for developing and applying procurement processes within projects or business functions to source goods and services where the value, risk or contract warrants special definition or conditions beyond those for a routine purchase, Procurement Professional works with other functional representatives and/or customers and suppliers to meet operational needs of line management and the business.  You would also be involved in roll-out and management of corporate procurement processes and technologies.  You will also be accountable for apply your experience of logistics processes and technologies both to ensure that these meet the businesses and the customer’s requirements and to improve these processes over time.  Leading teams that maintain and update infrastructure and processes and transport management, as well as leading cross-functional teams to optimise these and implement improvements. You will develop an increased understanding of the wider Supply Chain disciplines of planning and procurement to ensure that the decisions made in these areas are incorporated in logistics decisions.  

Skills and experience:
CIPS qualification or experience is advantageous 
Proven experience of working with a Supply Chain and Procurement management focused role.
Experience working within a defence,  military or highly regulated industry sector
A broad professional knowledge and understanding of procurement principles and practices, including an understanding of the impact and implications of decisions made across the wider Supply Chain
Good understanding of the MRP and any other relevant planning systems with a developing appreciation of the interfaces with both procurement and logistics and increased participation in cross-functional teams
Supervisory experience is needed 
Strong influencing, analytical and communication skills 
Excellent stakeholder management experience 
Exceptional IT skills, particularly relating to Microsoft Excel.
Able to self-manage, use initiative and work well with others
