Service Desk Officer - £18,000 annual salary – 12 months Contract– Huntingdon

Advantage Resourcing are currently recruiting for a Service Desk Assistant to work a long term contract in Huntingdon.

The Role

To provide first line Service Desk support within the ICT Shared Service to customers across the partnership. To support the Service Desk team leader in being a Customer Service Champion and an ITIL Champion. To support the Service Desk team leader in the development and delivery of the ICT Service Plan.

Main Duties:

To provide technical support within a skilled Help Desk function:

  • Analyse & resolve IT incidents with a varying degree of complexity
  • Maintain system performance across the authority’s IT estate
  • Assist with access control configuration to 2000+ users across the partnership
  • Provide support for in excess of 50+ Corporate systems
  • determine the priority of incidents with users/Service Desk Team Leader
  • Maintain security of the Councils’ IT assets and the safety, confidentially and integrity of data held within Council computer systems
  • Provide support to the Councils’ telephony system(s)
  • Update the inventory of computer assets & software licences
  • Perform daily operational tasks such as server checks, system backups and data transfer routines

    The Successful Candidate:

  • Ideally experience of working in a Service Desk support function, ideally in a significantly sized organisation supporting 2000+ networked PCs and 100+ servers
  • Good awareness of Customer Care - the Help Desk is a high profile function delivering its services to the whole of the Council & Elected Members
  • Problem solving and analysis of fault scenarios under pressure with competing demands & conflicting priorities. The post holder will be required to work well using their own initiative with minimal support from others.
  • Sound programming skills (MS-Office Professional preferred)
  • Ability to determine appropriate work priorities and manage workload effectively
