Job Description:

World Class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit an Occupational Health Technician / Administrator subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract.

Hourly Rate: The Company are offering excellent rates

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Security Information:  Please Note you must be eligible for SC Security Clearance (unfortunately due to security restrictions for this role, the candidate will need to be a British National with no dual nationality and must have resided in the UK for at least 4 of the past 5 years).

Occupational Health Technician / Administrator Job Description:

To support the effectiveness of the Occupational Health Manager and Team by providing a technical function under supervision where required and some administration in a customer and quality focused manner
Accountabilities and measurables:

OH Technical - Lifestyle screening/health
surveillance/travel health/ECG/Phlebotomy
Delivers executive/ lifestyle screening, health surveillance, health assessments, pre placement health paper screening and travel health/flu vaccination programmes under supervision. Maintains/reviews related spreadsheets/databases

Delivers face to face technical service to employees who have been booked
Supports the administration content for these programmes if required, by contacting employees.

Health & Wellbeing Campaigns
Co-ordinates health & wellbeing/promotion awareness campaigns and assists in the preparation and delivery of them

Campaigns co-ordinated minimum 8 weeks prior to delivery
Review OH team campaign material
Arrange room bookings
Arrange speakers
Prepare material for a minimum of 2 campaigns per annum

Medical equipment

Assists in the Calibration of medical screening equipment (daily)
Ensures medical screening equipment is fit for purpose e.g. audiometers, ECG equipment and co-ordinates annual external calibration programme

Records daily calibration
Records annual equipment calibration date

First aid
Orders First Aid supplies and checks defibulators on site
Reviews Building Managers First aid cover and advises L&D when new First Aiders require training
Assists Administrator when required in the Co-ordination of first aiders sponsors steering meetings

Assists Administrator if required in ordering First Aid supplies monthly, checking Defibulators on site (records kept)
Co-ordinating First Aid sponsors steering committee meetings

OH Systems and Reporting
Collate and analyse OH data /statistics for monthly and annual management reporting
Liaise with other departments (Finance/HR etc) to produce sickness absence reports

Monthly statistics sent to OHM or SOHA on time
External organisation communication
Acts as an interface with external agencies by liaising with providers and national bodies
Information Technology
Ensuring maximum use is made of IT systems and Cohort OH software, supporting the development of information systems to enhance the service provided
Extracting data from OH database monthly
Analysing data when requested
Providing data and information for OHAs & OHM committee meetings and presentations
General Admin Duties
Undertakes some general administration support duties including scanning records, and booking/emailing appointments
Provides cover for the occupational health department reception area /admin tasks in the absence of the OH Administrator.
Supports Occupational Health Advisors in administration tasks when required.
Supports the Manager/SOHA in diary management, expense claims, arranging meetings, taking minutes, hotels and travel bookings
Appointments booked within OH department time frames when requested
Cover provided for OH Admin when requested
Responds to OHM/SOHA support requests in a timely manner

General responsibilities
Delivers the role within core OH department hours
Delivers the role across at all MBDA UK Sites.
Carries out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy and relevant Health & Safety Legislation.
Supports OHM/SOHA service request requirements
Travels to Bolton and Bristol Sites regularly (2-4 times a month) when required to deliver a service with overnight stays


Skills and Experience

• Experienced NMC Registered OH Nurse - RN1 or OH Technician ideally with Graduate Degree (BSc/BA in health aligned subject)

• Training in health screening/surveillance – Blood pressure, audiometry, lung function testing

• Training in phlebotomy and flu vaccinations

• Travel Health training/ Immunisation skills

• Experience in near patient testing (finger prick)

• ECG training • Experience working with health databases

 • Ability to work as a team with others

• Ability to multi task and work under pressure in a busy environment

• Well organised, able to prioritise

• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written

• Experience in office and systems administration with excellent IT skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Have a proactive approach, and flexibility to support team and colleagues where needed
