Job Description

The role holder:

Accountable for the effectiveness of the Risk and Opportunity management systems within Supply chain

Accountable for the budget, performance and results of the team.

Ensures essential procedures are followed based on own knowledge of Project Management. Would be expected to influence the development of strategy within own area, including control of resource and policy formulation

Adapts and develops own project plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Would develop own project and wider plans, including business, production, operational and/or organisational priorities).

Exercises full management authority, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination and other personnel actions



Clear and effective communicator – can communicate complex plans and metrics in a simple and compelling manner. Able to plan & provide executive summaries for Head of Programme and Director. Able to articulate progress upwards effectively and ensure clarity of responsibility downwards. 

Grip/Rigour - can track and manage design, implementation and suistainability of risk and opportunity management systems

Strong Influencer – can influence indirectly across Supply Chain and Engineering – across all Dreadnought (including outside Platform) - getting procurement p[rofessionals motivated and driven towards a plan, new ways of working and a set of KPIs

Holds others to account – With authority from the Head of Programme, able to hold others to account to the plan. Not willing to accept compromise on planned activity without fully understanding the root cause and escalating/trying to resolve. Drives the team to fulfil their commitments against the plan. 

Strong Leader – On behalf of the Head of Programme, can drives accountability into the wider Supply Chain and Engineering teams

Driven – leaves no stone unturned in pursuit of the goal – to get Dreadnought back to budget

Analytical - can build, interpret and derive the appropriate action from KPIs



Experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Risk and Opportunity Management (tools, techniques, practices)

Experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Project Management (tools, techniques, practices) and good knowledge of other functions such as Commercial & Finance.

Able to develop innovative solutions to complex issues in a wider Business context. 

Extensive understanding of the Business environment for own project and teams.

Recognised as an experienced Risk and Opportunity Management practitioner within the wider Business


Demonstrates good commercial awareness & how it integrates within own and wider project areas.

Developed communication and diplomacy skills. Able to persuade and influence internal & external stakeholders, often at senior levels internally, sometimes externally.

Controls resources and policy formation in wider area of responsibility. Limited guidance needed from seniors.
